B: And back on Food Delight today is Kalie Bui, who has shared some fantastic yet simple recipes with us.

Garlic butter bread

Kalie: This homemade garlic bread recipe uses just a few simple ingredients, making it the one you'll try again and again. Here’s what you’ll need to make it:I like to use a loaf of French bread to get those nice thick slices or you can use any crusty bread you like—fresh or day-old works! For the butter: You’ll need plenty of softened butter to melt into all the bread's nooks and crannies. You can use either salted or unsalted butter, depending on your preference. I typically use 1/2 cup, but you can also get away with 1/3 cup if you'd like a slightly lighter touch!

A: And let me guess, you are looking for this ingredient in our kitchen, right?

B:Well, the key ingredient is garlic. Fresh garlic cloves but not garlic powder are essential for that bold, authentic garlic flavor. The minced garlic roasts to perfection in the oven, infusing the bread with amazing taste.Instead of using Italian seasoning, I’m adding fresh parsley and sea salt to tie everything together. And for an extra kick? Some grated parmesan cheese. Optional, but highly recommended!”

A: I love parmesan! So, where do we start?

B:Great question! I know what we should do first. Preheat your oven to 180DC to 200DC. We want it nice and hot to crisp up that bread.

Kalie Bui: Now, grab your softened butter and mix in the minced garlic, parsley, and a pinch of salt. If you’re using parmesan, toss that in too. Stir it until it’s a creamy, fragrant spread. Smell that garlic—it’s magic, isn’t it?”

B:Absolutely! My mouth’s already watering. What about the bread?

Kalie:Ah, the bread! Slice your baguette into even pieces, about an inch thick. You can slice all the way through or leave the base intact if you want a pull-apart style. Next, generously spread the garlic butter on each slice. Don’t be shy! The more butter, the better. Trust me on this.

A:Got it. Butter overload it is! And now, line your bread slices on a baking tray. If you’ve left them connected, just fan them out a bit. Pop the tray in the oven.

Kalie: Bake the bread for 10-15 minutes at 200C-220C until it’s slightly golden brown on the edges. If you're adding cheese, sprinkle it on during the last 2 minutes of baking. Once done, let it cool and enjoy!

B: That sounds easy enough. And the smell must be amazing by now.

A: This bread pairs wonderfully with soups, pasta, or even a nice glass of wine.

B: Or just eat it straight off the tray, right?

A:You are right! No judgment here. Well, that’s it—homemade garlic butter bread, quick, simple, and so satisfying. Thanks for tuning in, and happy cooking!
